Art Journal 2021

Shortly after moving here I discovered a lady who had free art journal gatherings in her studio once a month. Most of my art journaling wasn't very good in the beginning, I had never painted and the gatherings were mostly ladies who had known each other a long a long time so it was more social than learning how to paint! But they all welcomed me. It's a small town so even though the gatherings stopped a long time ago I still see a few of the ladies and am grateful for having spent time with them and grateful to Randi for all the time I had in her studio.

This is one of my favorite pages from my journal.

Sourdough Sandwich Loaves

Oldest & Newest!

This is the first quilt I ever made! The year was 1975 and my sister Cheryl was pregnant with this young man! Stitched and quilted all by hand, I really had no idea what I was doing!

I call this quilt "Michigan Garden Club". The blocks all finish 4" and it was a lot of fun to follow the pattern using some red, white and blue fabrics I'd had for a while.

This quilt took 2nd place in category at the Shadow Mountain Quilters 2024 show, and best use of theme. The theme was "Quilting Over the Ages". The judge commented it was best use of traditional blocks with contemporary fabrics.
